Longtime Atlanta resident and veteran broadcaster Mike Sammond is the owner and operator of the Business RadioX studio in North Fulton – known as the Roswell Infiniti studio. He is also the co-host of the weekly program “North Fulton Business Radio” which airs every Tuesday at 11:30 AM.

Mike also owns and operates the Business RadioX studio in Gwinnett. Since opening that studio in the Fall of 2012, over 1,200 local business leaders have come through his doors to talk about the great work they are doing in their community.

A graduate of Milton High School in Alpharetta, Mike began his broadcasting career in radio while attending the University of Georgia. He has worked as a sports director at radio and television stations throughout the Southeast including three years at WRBL-TV in Columbus and three years as a sports anchor at CNN Headline News.

Mike is also an award-winning play-by-play announcer with extensive experience announcing high school, college and professional sports including baseball, basketball, hockey and football. Over the years, he has announced for the University of Georgia, Atlanta Braves, Gwinnett Braves, International Hockey League and Arena Football League among others.

On the international sports stage, Mike serves as an announcer for Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS). He has covered the Winter Olympics in Vancouver (2010), Youth Olympics in Singapore (2010), Summer Games in London (2012) and soon the 2016 Summer Games in Rio. He also announced basketball and table tennis at the 2015 European Games in Azerbaijan.

Most recently, Mike served four years as a weekend sports talk show host, reporter and update anchor for CBS Radio/92.9 The Game in Atlanta.

 

JOHN RAY

John Ray headshotJohn Ray is the owner of Ray Business Advisors, LLC and Bookkeeping Express of Greater Atlanta. John’s specialty is helping business owners make sense of their financial results so they can take the actions necessary to improve profits and the long-term value of their business. John also runs a monthly, online “Profit and Growth Roundtable” where business owners can get questions answered and also receive fresh, actionable content on driving more profits in the business.

John is on the board of the Alpharetta Business Association and is Chair of the ABA Alpharetta Business Expo, one of North Fulton’s largest annual small business events. John is also very active in the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce, serving as a Facilitator of GNFCC’s Pro Alliance meeting and on the Small Business Person of the Year selection committee.

Additionally, John is an active member of St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church in Milton, having served as Assistant Treasurer. He currently serves on the board of the Jeanne Marie Educational Fund for Jesse’s House, which funds educational enrichment opportunities for the young women who reside at the shelter. He is also Vice Chairman of the Board for BlueHair Technology, a non-profit which provides personal technology training for seniors. In 2014 John was nominated as Non-Profit Leader of the Year in 2014 by the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce.

John’s particular passion is Backpacks of Love, a grassroots, all-volunteer organization he started in early 2011 which serves children and their families in the north metro Atlanta area who are homeless or otherwise in severe need. Backpacks of Love delivers backpacks of food, purchased and packed by volunteer sponsors, to 17 different elementary, middle, and high schools in north Fulton County and Forsyth County. Since its founding in January 2011, Backpacks of Love has delivered over 161,000 pounds of food, school supplies and other essential items in over 7,500 backpacks. In 2015, John was named Small Business Partner in Education of the Year by the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce for his work with Backpacks of Love.

John has lived in the Alpharetta area since 1996. His wife, Dr. Monica Ray, teaches Language Arts at Taylor Road Middle School in north Fulton County.

Studio Producer

Trey-OdumTrey Odum serves as a producer at the Business RadioX studios in Gwinnett and North Fulton. In addition to preparing and uploading the webpages for many of the shows, Trey manages and sets-up the equipment for all of the studio’s live on-site remotes. He is a graduate of the Connecticut School of Broadcasting.
