Ehab Jaleel/Amana Academy Charter School

Amana Academy, a Fulton County public charter school serving 750 students, is the first K-8 Certified STEM School by the Georgia Department of Education. Founded on the principles of stewardship and responsibility, the school is incorporated in the state of Georgia as a non-profit charter school and is located in Alpharetta, Georgia.  Amana’s unique set of educational approaches centers on the Harvard-based Expeditionary Learning model and is focused on preparing students for high academic achievement beyond what they think possible, so that they become active contributors to building a better world. In 2011 the school was named Georgia Charter School of the Year by the Coca-Cola Foundation, and it received a STEM Education Dissemination Award by the Georgia Department of Education in 2012. The school was also ranked the #1 Middle School in Georgia in 2010 by the Georgia Public Policy Foundation, and awarded an Annie E. Casey Foundation Grant, among many other honors and awards for its commitment to environmental education and for its pioneering Arabic language program. Amana Academy students reside primarily in Alpharetta and Roswell and the school is open to all students who are eligible to attend Fulton County Public Schools during the specified open enrollment period without regard to race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, religion, disabling condition, or English proficiency.

Mayor Jere Wood/City of Roswell

The City of Roswell continues to be a leader in the metro Atlanta area in managing the current and future growth of this wonderful city. Roswell is fortunate to have leaders who concentrate their policy-making into solid guidelines for smart growth and development. The Community Development Department is responsible for carrying out those guidelines. The City has implemented a number of projects that will enhance their community. These projects include receiving a $2.3 million LCI Grant from the Atlanta Regional Commission to fund the redevelopment of the Roswell Midtown from Norcross Street to Commerce Parkway; completion of the Transportation Master Plan; and the Town Square area Design Charettes. The Community Development Department also oversees economic development, building inspection and code enforcement. Roswell’s enforcement of building codes, with respect to apartments, is the model for metro Atlanta.

They are a culinary partner with the Big Green Egg, so A&S offers many different type of Big Green Egg classes from Grilling to all day Boot Camps. A&S are farm to table and deal with local vendors as much as possible. Most of their food is made on premises from scratch from mayonnaise to ice cream and pickles. They have a pastry chef on premise, so all of their pastries are made from scratch. Their menus are guidelines, they like to work with the customer to personalize what they want, this way you also know everything is made fresh for you. They invite anyone to come and see the studio at any time.
